JUST A TEAM
WITH A DREAM

WE ARE WARLORDS
Many communities, one home.
Warlord Combat Academy began as a haven for buhurt enthusiasts—those drawn to the raw, full-contact world of medieval armored combat. What started as a passion project has evolved into a dynamic hub for diverse martial arts communities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
We believe in fostering a supportive environment where fighters of all levels can thrive. Whether you’re a seasoned warrior or a curious newcomer, you’ll find a place to grow, challenge yourself, and connect with like-minded individuals.
Today, our 5,000-square-foot facility in Irving, Texas, is more than just a training ground; it’s a melting pot of martial disciplines and cultures:
-
The Warlords & The Mythics: Our elite steel-fighting teams, representing both Open and Women’s Divisions, have clinched numerous international gold medals.
-
Dallas School of Historical Fencing (DSHF): The largest longsword community in the DFW Metroplex, DSHF delves into Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), blending rigorous training with scholarly exploration.
-
Winged Saber Historical Fencing: Led by 20+ year HEMA veteran Russ Mitchell, this group preserves a living lineage of military sabre and long-axe fencing, emphasizing proper body mechanics and inclusive athletic development.
-
Sambo Texas: Under the guidance of Julian Sanchez, a multiple-time national medalist, this community focuses on the Russian-born grappling sport of Sambo, offering both sport and combat components.
-
Starbird Saber Academy: Directed by Kat Laurange, this family-friendly group combines the fantasy elements of the Star Wars franchise with traditional fencing pedagogy, providing a unique lightsaber fencing experience.
